Scout Fest 100 - a resounding success!

ScoutFest100Scouts of all ages from across Bexley came to Welling on Sunday (20th May) to celebrate 100 years of Scouting.

The day long celebration, also attended by Bexley's New Mayor, Cllr Nigel Betts and his Mayoress Mrs Hilary Betts along with local MP David Evennett (Bexleyheath & Crayford) and several local Councillors, gave the boys and girls of today's Scout movement from the four Bexley Scout Districts (Sidcup, East Wickham & Welling, Bexleyheath and Erith & Crayford) the chance to come together and take part in activities such as It's a Knock Out, Parachute Games, Rope Bridges and of course get together with other scouts for general fun. Music was also provided on the day by BAMPA (Bexley Academy of Music and Performing Arts) and local band Nellys Heroes

One of the highlights of the day was the bringing together of a large panel painting of the Scout Movements founder Lord Baden Powell, which was made up of sections of painting, made using the fingerprints of beavers and cubs. The event was brought to a close with a ceremony that involved everyone retaking their promise
