The 24th World Scout Jamboree (WSJ) will take place between 22nd July and 2nd August 2019 at The Summit Bechtel Family National Scout Reserve in West Virginia, USA in 2019.
The WSJ is an huge Scouting event that happens every four years, where over 35,000 Scouts from across the world come together to camp for approx.10 days. A WSJ involves lots of activities and meeting fellow Scouts from around the world. The organisers; America, Mexico and Canada, want it to be the biggest and best WSJ to date – it is sure to be epic!
The WSJ is known worldwide in Scouting, and is seen as a great honour to be able to attend. The theme is, Unlock a New World, which invites you to unlock new adventures, new cultures, and new friendships.
Participants must be born between 22 July 2001 and 21 July 2005. There will be absolutely no exceptions to this rule.
The cost is still to be confirmed, but it will likely be over £3000+ (but lots of fundraising can reduce this somewhat). There are a limited number of places open to GLSE (still TBC) so selection is necessary. We expect to know final numbers in the coming months.
Further details regarding participant selection will be sent out later this year, so keep an eye out.
GLSE expect to find out in the coming months how many patrols we have been allocated by the UK contingent for the WSJ in America, this will then determine the number of leader positions available. Until we know the final numbers we are unable to start selection of leaders, however we have finalised the Person Specification and Role Descriptions. This will allow leaders in GLSE to consider whether they are interested in applying to be part of the Unit Leadership team.

If you are a leader in GLSE and are interested in being part of the Unit Leadership team, please fill in the Expression of Interest form at: https://goo.gl/forms/8d2tMneOKw68KfmR2. We will then ensure that all details are sent to you when applications open. Applications will formally open once we know how many leaders are required. GLSE hope to then have a leadership team in place before the summer.
