Bromley Scouts jet off to New Zealand for cultural adventure

A group of Bromley District Scouts have begun a once in a lifetime festive adventure, travelling the length and breadth of New Zealand's North Island.

After spending two years preparing for their 17-day trip, the scouts hope to discover the wonders of the Maori culture.

When in New Zealand the team will use a variety of transport methods, including hiking, kayaking and public transport in order to travel between eight different locations in the North Island.

The highlights of the trip include staying with a Maori tribe, helping out in a soup kitchen over the Christmas period, and learning the Haka.

Bromley scout David Hudson, 17, said: "The best part of the build up to the expedition is the great people I have met and become good friends with that I wouldn't of otherwise had the pleasure of knowing.

"Throughout this experience I have learnt how to work effectively as a group and how to work with people's strengths and weaknesses in order to be successful.

"I most look forward to experiencing the different amazing environment and culture that New Zealand has to offer."
